POD’s Corporate Social Responsibility Projects
Successful organisations need managers who can confidently and comfortably move from country to country and deal effectively with team members from all around the world. Teams present both an opportunity and a risk when they are made up of people with varied cultural backgrounds who are located across the globe. The opportunities lie in the rich diversity of experience and knowledge that inform decisions. The risks lie in the confusion caused by communication difficulties and cultural misunderstandings.
As a German developing business with Indian banks, I was curious to see what I could learn on a POD programme. The methods introduced during the seminar were presented vividly and are very helpful for doing business across cultures. I was able to improve the quality of communication and strengthen my business relationships. I very much enjoyed the two telephone coaching sessions. Although I was bit stressed out and had little time, I did not want to miss it.
All three events were very useful for me, both professionally and personally. There is much I still need to work on – this will be a life-long process. Based on the tools you provided, I feel stronger, holding on to this rope at the side of the road as I walk along. The experiences are a lot more intense because I remember the underlying tools.
Many of our programmes are bespoke and some of the more unusual requests that we have been happy to accommodate are:
Bankers Building Bridges – A three-tier international management programme is now part of the curriculum offered by a major investment bank and delivered by POD in Germany, the UK and Japan. This training has improved the abilities of the bank’s management team to bridge cultural gaps between locations, cultures and business functions.
Picturing Profits at the Pyramids – A client setting up an Islamic Financial Products team needed a dynamic event to both build his team but also get the rest of the bank interested. We designed a two-tier event – a team building session in Bahrain followed by a business launch in Cairo accompanied by a trip to the pyramids. Reaction was strongly positive. It is no surprise that they now have a picture of the pyramids on their conference room wall!
This is just a sample of the wide range of International Manager courses we deliver to organisations around the world.
