Russian Spirit for International Banking Team – POD was asked to facilitate an offsite meeting of the management team of a major international bank in Russia with offices in Moscow and St Petersburg. The offsite was a unique opportunity for the Russian management team. Unique inasmuch as many of the management team had never experienced an offsite meeting before! Among the eye-openers were that several people discovered that they were marketing different products to the same client. This was followed by the ‘bombshell’ to the CEO that his vision was not a vision at all, more a blur on the horizon! And then there was the frustration that surfaced with the speed of decision-making from head office – felt but not jointly acted upon by several parts of the business. All were shaken and stirred and a new team spirit emerged.
Through careful facilitation there was plenty of productive storming, working in small groups, that led to a plan of action that warmed everyone present like the sun coming out! At the follow-up meeting we were able to measure major improvements in communication and co-operation.
