Organisations need to respond creatively to increasing change. It is rare for an individual to produce the ideas and implement them; it requires individuals to co-operate with each other. POD facilitated off-sites greatly increase co-operation within and between teams. They enable team members to work together to review their objectives, identify barriers and plan for the future. In a high energy facilitated environment, teams come together and are assisted to look at their issues with fresh eyes and enjoy the success of agreed solutions. In addition, this approach has two further benefits:

  • The facilitator liberates the official team leader from their traditional role of ensuring discussions stay on track and that everyone is involved. The leader is now free to contribute as a team member and also to observe the other team members in action with objective eyes.
  • The facilitator can encourage contributions from those who might normally stay quiet and discourage dominance by the more forthright team members.

 

I am pleased to say that the teambuilding sessions facilitated by POD were of a true value to me. An immediate effect of it was that a group of individuals turned into a team. Immediately upon departure from the workshop a very useful cooperation started, which continues until today to the benefit of all participants.

Also, a long term objective related to our personal development has been achieved. Team Building events can be held at client’s own premises or offsite. The hours can be as flexible as your business requires. For example, start at close of business on Friday, full day on Saturday, close by mid-day Sunday.

 

POD in Action Worldwide

Russian Spirit for International Banking Team – POD was asked to facilitate an offsite meeting of the management team of a major international bank in Russia with offices in Moscow and St Petersburg. The offsite was a unique opportunity for the Russian management team. Unique inasmuch as many of the management team had never experienced an offsite meeting before! Among the eye-openers were that several people discovered that they were marketing different products to the same client. This was followed by the ‘bombshell’ to the CEO that his vision was not a vision at all, more a blur on the horizon! And then there was the frustration that surfaced with the speed of decision-making from head office – felt but not jointly acted upon by several parts of the business. All were shaken and stirred and a new team spirit emerged.

Through careful facilitation there was plenty of productive storming, working in small groups, that led to a plan of action that warmed everyone present like the sun coming out! At the follow-up meeting we were able to measure major improvements in communication and co-operation.
